Metropolis Pictures Entertainment, Inc
www.metpix.com

Award Winning Writer, Director Francis Xavier, Blockbuster, Netflix, Amazon.com and Metropolis Pictures Entertainment
to Release Five Films to Die For:

Los Angeles-based entertainment production company Metropolis Pictures Entertainment in partnership with Amazon.com is releasing the feature films of Francis Xavier. These films "Dodge City", "The Tango Dancer", "Night Cry", "Johnny Come Lately", and "Barry's Gift" can be purchased through Blockbuster, Netflix, Amazon.com and other retailers.

Metropolis Pictures Entertainment is currently in development on "The Desperate Ones", www.DesperateOnes.com, and will produce the western thriller with Francis Xavier and Michael Kureth serving as producers of the film and Xavier directing from his original screenplay. Their most recent accomplishments have been producing the short film "The Ear of the Beholder (2008)", executive produced, written and starring Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe winning actress Sally Kirkland (Anna) and directed by Xavier. The short film has been submitted to the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and the 2009 Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival, one of the leading short film festivals in the world. The CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival is accredited by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. The short film will be eligible for consideration for the 2010 Academy Awards, along with "Memphis Rising, Elvis Returns" (2008) another 2009 Sundance hopeful featuring Weston Maguire (Tobey's younger brother) in which Xavier supervised the post production including film editing, sound designing and supervising the visual effects for the film and Kureth as visual effects artist and supervisor.
Xavier added: "I'm delighted to be seeing these films find a home and with the extraordinary talents of Michael Kureth, Jo Ann Smith and Duck Richardson who are among the best co-workers you can have. Together, we're committed to capturing on film the same magic that audiences saw at the premieres of these five films being released now for the first time ever".

In addition to the totally new re-designed Metropolis Pictures Entertainment website www.metpix.com, the company is proud to announce The Cinepix Global Movie Theatre website www.cinepix.com, where Independent filmmakers across the world can showcase their films in thirteen different languages to worldwide audiences and be compensated for it with possible distribution through Metropolis Pictures Entertainment.

DODGE CITY (2007) - http://www.metpix.com/#/?movie=dc
Dodge City is Xavier's first urban drama shot entirely in Baltimore City with the cooperation of the Baltimore City Police Department. Dodge City is an urban drama/musical in the tradition of "West Side Story", only it's happening all on the East Side. The film is told from four different gangs points of views. After the shooting death of a young girl, her father, gang leader Johnny Johnson (newcomer Tony Glover) seeks retribution against everyone in Dodge City (Baltimore) except for ex-gang member turned amateur race car driver, Teddy Bear, (Derrick Purvey, Big Man on the season finale of HBO's 'The Wire') who must do something to stop the madness. It's a blend of music, murder and mayhem. It's what happens around the corner from "The Wire".

"The Image Photo Award Winner" to Francis Xavier, Writer/Director
"Dodge City is the realism in the visual arts as the film depicts subjects as they appear in everyday life, without embellishment or interpretation" - Jay Bennett, Media Expressions
THE TANGO DANCER (2006) - http://www.metpix.com/#/?movie=td
The Tango Dancer tells the story of Sabatino Gardel (Johnny Alonso, Dawson's Creek, OC), a nightclub owner who sees visions of murder from a serial killer's point of view.

"A film of questionable taste, but I loved It" - Robert Duvall, Actor/Director

NIGHT CRY (2005) - http://www.metpix.com/#/?movie=nc
His third feature film "Night Cry" (2005) is a trilogy in the tradition of "Alfred Hitchcock, Presents" and "The Twilight Zone".

JOHNNY COME LATELY (2004) - http://www.metpix.com/#/?movie=jcl
Johnny Come Lately (2004) Xavier's second feature is just as unusual. In the story, Paul Washington, a former serial killer profiler, must help the Aberdeen, Maryland Police Department track down a child murdering cannibal. This time Xavier would play the lead role. The story takes an uncanny twist as his character Paul Washington starts communicating with the dead.

"One of the most bizarre films ever made" - Featured on CBS' Inside Edition

BARRY'S GIFT (2000) - http://www.metpix.com/#/?movie=bg
Barry's Gift, an official 2000 Maryland Film Festival Selection in which Xavier wrote, produced and directed the film, tells the story of Barry Russell, played by Lance Irwin (Mowi, second season of HBO's 'The Wire') a small time psychic who makes his living doing Tarot Card readings. When a dying, elderly tycoon (the late Richard Ruxton) offers Barry big money to try to bring him back after his demise, Barry conjures up a showy spell to impress the old guy. No one is more surprised than Barry when the antic really works and the dead millionaire rises up as good as new! With the help of a crafty PR agent, played by Xavier, Barry's 'gift' attracts attention and he begins repeating this miraculous feat. But Barry doesn't bother to learn how to return the souls to the bodies when resurrecting it. Before long the undead start a murderous rampage.

"It shines if even in a heavy-handed manner" - Film threat Magazine
